how a christian would view euthanasia
In contrast to Jainism, euthanasia is seen as much more morally wrong for many reasons. For instance, one of the main christian beliefs is that life is a gift from God. Knowing this, one should not interfere with the will of God and no person has the authority to end another's life, even if they request to do so. God has a plan for everyone in the world; he chooses when is the right time for a person to leave this world, and we should accept that whatever life throws at us, one should not interfere with his will. Other reasons include:
1. It disobeys the commandment "Thou shall not kill". Even if the patient requests assisted suicide, the deliberate action of killing someone is morally wrong. Christians and Roman Catholics in particular strongly believe in the 10 commandments and that killing is a terrible sin.
'Euthanasia is a grave violation of the law of God since it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable action of killing a human being. Nothing or no-one in any way permit the killing of an innocent human being, whether a foetus or an embryo, an infant or an adult, an old person or one suffering an incurable disease, or a person who is dying.’ -Pope John Paul II
2. Suffering is inevitable in life, and no amount of suffering should allow a person to purposefully take their own life and destroy God's will. Just before Jesus died, he experienced unbearable amounts of pain and suffering, yet he pulled through it in order to save the souls of humans on earth. Therefore everyone on earth should deal with their pain, even if they have a terminal illness as it will cleanse their souls and become help them better people. Instead of constantly wanting to end their pain by euthanasia, Christians believe that one should deal with it, and when they die they will be rewarded by everlasting life and happiness in heaven.
Therefore, any Christian would undoubtedly see euthanasia as morally wrong, and there is not much difference between killing someone and letting them die.
